Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how configtools.dev (“configtools.dev”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information when you use our website and the free developer tools available on it (the “Service”). By using the Service, you agree to the practices described here.

The short version

  • Our tools run entirely in your browser. The data you paste, type, or generate (JSON, YAML, tokens, text, etc.) is processed locally and is never sent to or stored on our servers.
  • We do not require an account and do not ask for your name, email, or other personal details to use the tools.
  • We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate usage and Google AdSense to display ads. These third parties use cookies and may collect data as described below.

1. Information we do not collect

The content you enter into any tool on this site — for example a config file you validate, a JWT you decode, or text you encode — is handled client-side within your own browser. We do not transmit, log, or retain that content. We have no user accounts and operate no database of your inputs.

2. Information collected automatically

Like most websites, when you visit us our third-party providers (see Section 4) may automatically receive certain technical information, including your IP address, browser type and settings, device information, referring pages, and how you interact with the site. This is used for analytics and advertising, not to personally identify you.

3. Local storage on your device

We store a small preference in your browser’s localStorage — specifically your light/dark theme choice — so the site remembers it on your next visit. This value stays on your device and is not transmitted to us. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings.

4. Cookies and third-party services

We rely on the following third-party services, which may set cookies or use similar technologies on your device:

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics to measure aggregate, anonymous usage (such as which pages are visited). Google may set cookies and process data in accordance with its policies. Learn more in the Google Privacy Policy, and how Google uses data from sites that use its services at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites. You can opt out of Google Analytics using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

Google AdSense

We display advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies (including the DoubleClick/DART cookie) to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites. You can control ad personalization in your Google Ad Settings. For more on how Google uses cookies in advertising, see the Google Advertising policies. You may also opt out of personalized advertising from participating vendors at aboutads.info/choices or youronlinechoices.eu.

5. Your privacy rights

Because we do not collect or store personal data ourselves, most requests about your data relate to information held by the third parties above; please use their tools and policies to exercise your choices.

  • EEA / UK (GDPR): You have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to data portability. Where required, advertising and analytics cookies are used subject to your consent.
  • California (CCPA/CPRA): You have the right to know, delete, and opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information. Use the Google Ad Settings and opt-out links above to limit ad personalization.

6. Managing cookies

You can block or delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that blocking some cookies may affect how ads are shown but will not stop the in-browser tools from working.

7. Children’s privacy

The Service is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

8. International users

Our third-party providers may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. By using the Service you understand that data handled by those providers may be transferred and processed there.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes take effect when posted on this page, and we will update the “Last updated” date above.
